All about Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Cane Garden Bay beach

Tortola is the gateway to the British Virgin Islands (BVI). Tortola is the BVI capital, the largest of the British Virgin Islands and boasts the largest airport. It's also the charter boat center of the Caribbean.

However, Tortola is also a wonderful Caribbean vacation destination.

Long Bay

You won't experience the crowds of the U.S. Virgin Islands, or the overbearing resorts, on this laid back 24-square-mile island. And Tortola's rugged peaks play host to terrific hiking trips, like the 1700 foot peak Mt. Sage.  But, Tortola's best asset?

Some of the best beaches in the Caribbean.

Wonderful, underdeveloped and untouched beaches, like Long Bay a mile of white sand with just a few houses and one resort at one end. Or Smuggler's Cove on the west end of Tortola, hard to get to and thus perfectly tranquil. Or possibly the nicest stretch of beach in the Caribbean - Cane Garden Bay with its quaint beach bars that are straight out of a Corona commercial.
